Who We Are?

Joel Schafbuch grew up in Burnsville Minnesota until he went to college for engineering.  After graduation he became a Project Engineer and eventually Director of Engineering and Operations for a plastics injection plant.  Through his years in engineering he remodeled homes on the side.

Joel and his wife decided to take three years off and travel the country.  They sold everything, bought a fifth wheel and traveled the country exploring, learning and teaching their two boys with hands-on experience while they homeschooled them.  When they got back Joel decided to leave the engineering field and explore construction full time; framing, trimming, custom tiling and flooring.

After being in the field for a while the opportunity came up to become the General Manager of Riffle Construction where he runs the day to day operations and enjoys the ability to work with customers to make dreams a reality.

Joel Schafbuch & Jay Riffle

Jay Riffle, owner and president Edward Jay Riffle Construction, started in the building trade at the age of 13 working summers for contractors sweeping floors and pounding nails.  Even at that young age, he was able to help with some of the nicest homes Northwestern Iowa had to offer.  Following high school, he left Iowa to attend college in British Columbia as a fine arts and design major.

Jay started building his first contracted home at the age of 21 and has been going strong ever since.  With over 200 custom homes under his belt, he thinks he now has a handle on the whole general contracting thing!

Jay and his family moved to the Longville-Remer-Hackensack area in 1982 where Riffle Construction has become a name that means quality customer service with first class results!

We want to commend Jay on developing such a capable team.  They were simply delightful to have around and were perfect gentlemen during the whole process.
